Praise for the Lord's Mercy

This is simply a personal praise I wanted to share regarding God's fidelity toward us. Among many prayers answered of late, of which it is too numerous to make mention of them all, I wanted to share this: I have, for the past three years at least, had a lipoma on my right shoulder.

For those of you who do not know, a lipoma is a benign tumor composed of fat. Apparently fairly common, especially in older adults, mine had grown rapidly in a short period of time. Typically a lipoma takes years, even decades, to reach moderate to large size (6 centimeters plus). Mine had, in three years, grown to 12 centimeters in size and was become uncomfortable to work with.

I was admitted to day surgery on September 26, released later that morning, and awaited pathology reports to find out if in fact we were dealing with a benign lipoma. The surgery went very well; I did not need pain medication of any kind and my healing has been very speedy. The pathology report returned negative; there was nothing cancerous in the tumor; a slight fear my doctor had due to its rapid increase in size.

In every way the Lord Jesus dealt graciously with me, and I am glad to be sitting here, writing this praise lipoma-less. On another note please keep my step-father Rick in your prayers. He is 59 and has come down with a case of Shingles. It is pretty bad, and it struck him very hard. He can use our supplications right about now.

Thanks be to the Lord for His loving kindness!
